Hi all,
although we have carried out a couple of inspections already this year, we are aware that the weather has not been suitable for much of the preparation activity we would normally expect to have been done by this time of the year. That notwithstanding, it’s clear that a good number of plotholders have been dodging the rain and been readying their plots for the growing season, so well done them.
It does look as though the weather is turning, so we will be following up on any issues that are identified in the next plot inspection which is scheduled for the weekend of 4/5th May. We’ll be looking at paths (you’re responsible for maintaining the path to the right of your plot looked at from the main roadway), for the absence of weeds, that 70% is under or has been prepared for cultivation, and that carpet is not being used.
We asked for volunteers to help with the maintenance of communal areas and a few plotholders have stepped forward, and someone has already cut the playground grass. Our thanks to whoever that was, and to the other volunteers. We’ll be in touch to agree how best to organise. If you haven’t already volunteered but can help, its not too late!
The field belongs to all of us, and we all have a responsibility to maintain it. You can help by, for example, when using a mower from the machine shed, you start it there and cut along the middle of main roadway until you get to your row, and do the same on the way back.
Tks
